Welcome,
Whether it be a weekend in the White Mountains of New Hampshire or at a more distant location, I hope that you will consider joining the excursions offered below. Listed first are the weekend trips in NH. Scroll down farther and you can read about the more distant trips that I and my co-leaders have planned.

Utah - Arizona - New Mexico - Washington - Croatia - Morocco - Switzerland - Portugal - Guatemala - India - Italy
This is a sampling of trips being offered. Read descriptions below. If you have interest in any of the trips, ask to be put on an information list. As soon as trip plans are final, you will be among the first to receive information. Many of these trips fill quickly.

Pembrook, my lodge in Woodstock, NH, is available for weekend and weeklong rentals. Sleeps from two to twenty. I and others continue to enjoy leading trips out of the house. Consider renting Pembrook’s Big House or Little House with friends and family. The Big House sleeps fourteen and the Little House six. Cannot beat the area for outdoor recreation. Check out description at http://kathydidier.googlepages.com/

Costa Rica Children's Library - My sister, Suzanne and her husband Ron, have lived in Grecia, Costa Rica for two and a half years. Instead of living in an American compound, they have chosen to live in a Tico Community. They became fast friends with the Costa Ricans and Nicaraguan migrant workers. Costa Rica has have very high literacy rate…..and yet, the children in my sister’s area do not have a library. Books are very expensive in Costa Rica and incomes are low. Our family grew up with a love for books. One of Suzanne’s first community projects was to set up a Children’s Library, with most of the books written in Spanish. April 11, 2009, was the grand opening of the new "Biblioteca de Susanna para los Ninos". Suzanne and Ron have built a room on to the side of their home. This new addition - the library -has its own outside entrance to enable local volunteers to run the library when Suzanne is away from home.
Suzanne searches the internet for books. When she finds Children’s books in Spanish at a low price, she orders them and has them sent to friends’ homes in the US. In turn, the friends deliver the books on their next visit to Costa Rica. If you happen to have access to books in Spanish and would like to contribute them to the library, please send them to me at the above address. I will happily fill up as many suitcases as I need to deliver them on my next trip. Even more important, if you plan to travel to Costa Rica, would you consider carrying an extra suitcase filled to the weight limit with books? Suzanne and Ron would meet you at the airport. This would beneficial for all.

Hello,

While I have my favorite places to re-visit…such as Utah, Umbria in Italy, and Baja California, it has been wonderful to explore new locations this year – Bolivia for Carnival, Hiking in Spain and Morocco, and exploring Native American sites with an archaeologist in New Mexico. My friends and I especially liked Morocco…so much so that we plan to return to the Atlas Mountains and Sub-Sahara Desert in the fall of 2009. We have an outstanding guide, Matt Butler of
www.adventurebug.com who introduced my group to the Rift Mountains and people of Morocco.

I continue to work with Ric Finch
www.rutahsa.com who has provided me with rewarding trips to Central and South America. Ric orchestrated my 2008 trip to Bolivia and will do so for the June 2009 trip to Peru/ Machu Pichu.

Eastern Europe (Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Krakow, Warsaw, Berlin) …Baja California….Umbria, Italy…..Peru (Machu Pichu)……Utah……Croatia…Morocco…. Switzerland….Portugal….Guatemala. This is a sampling of trips being offered.

Pembrook, my lodge in Woodstock, NH, is available for weekend and weeklong rentals. I and others continue to enjoy leading trips out of the house. November 1-13, 2009 – Morocco Atlasa/Sahara Explorer Tour - 13 Days Marrakech start and finish pointLight Adventure / Walking / Discovery
This tour will combine the beauty and mystique of the High Atlas villages and nature with the stunning contrast of the Sahara Desert. The emphasis of the tour is light walking and cultural discovery. The comfort level is 'basic' for the Atlas portion (3 nights) and 'very comfortable' for the desert portion (4-6 nights). The hotel in Marrakech (3 nights total) is also comfortable and very charming.

All rooming will be twin share and where possible, we'll avoid use of sleeping bags - with exception of 1 ''optional'' desert camp night in Sahara. The tour will begin/end in Marrakech with a cozy character hotel and tours of this fine market city. Transport will be in a group minibus that is of very good standard. Travel distances will be long at times but stops for walking / sightseeing are arranged to maximize the physical aspects of the trip and to see the countryside and interact with the people!
